Model: Tapo P100
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

The button is on the side. When two smart plugs are plugged next to each other, like the image below shows, at least one button becomes inaccessible. The buttons should have been on the top or bottom of the smart plug. I only bought this product becasue it was cheaper, but I knew this was going to be a problem, and it is a problem.

  @RandyAndy

Due to the varying arrangements of plugs in different scenarios, it is not possible to accommodate all situations unless there is a button available from every orientation.

There will inevitably be instances where it becomes difficult to access the power button when the plug is positioned in a certain location. For instance, if the plug is intended to be used behind a sofa or bookshelf, it may be challenging to reach the button if it is positioned directly above rather than on the sides.

When making your purchase, you can actually determine the button's placement based on the product images. If you require a side-by-side arrangement of plugs, it is advisable to consider purchasing a power strip, such as the Tapo P300. In fact, we also have a model with a button layout that matches your desired position. You can take a look at it. The Tapo P125M or Kasa P125M.

  @Wayne-TP I objectively disagree. If you think of just one situation where the button being on the top of a Schuko smart plug would not be a good idea? I specifically say Schuko because the plug can be rotated 180°, meaning that, in the rare event that the top-side button placement were a problem, users could still flip the smart plug around to gain access to the button. This is not possible with UK, US, Chinese and other polarized plugs.

Regarding the power strip suggestion, you are discounting the possibility that the thing blocking access to the button might be a wall wart power adapter or other bulky appliance. Besides, I prefer the flexibility of individual smart plugs.
