Description

When configuring a Tapo C520WS/C530WS V2, during the step of selecting the WiFi network to which the camera needs to connect, the app may not detect any WiFi networks, or it may fail to find your router's WiFi while other networks, such as those from neighbors, are visible.

Troubleshooting Suggestions

1. Make sure the wifi is a 2.4GHz network.

2. If the WiFi SSID (wifi name) contains any non-English characters, try to change the SSID to use English letters only, or a combination of English letters and numbers.

3. If you have a mesh router, try to turn off the mesh nodes, see if the app can detect your wifi in this case. The mesh nodes can be turned on after the camera is set up successfully.

4. Enable a hotspot wifi with another phone, set the hotspot wifi to use the same SSID, password, and security type as the router. Then configure the camera to the hotspot wifi, once it is configured, turn off hotspot and check if the camera can connect to router wifi automatically. If not, restart the camera and check again.

5. Set up the camera through Ethernet. At the end of the setup, you can choose WiFi backup, enter the WiFi SSID and password in this step, check if the connection can be established successfully.

Hello
For me is working Nr.5 Set up the camera through Ethernet. At the end of the setup, you can choose WiFi backup, enter the WiFi SSID and password in this step, check if the connection can be established successfully. I don't understand why we have this issues, I have the router Tp-Link Archer 73 AX v2.0, firmware 1.1.1 Build 20241031 rel.70279

Re:What to do if my Tapo C520WS V2/Tapo C530WS V2 can't find the router's Wi-Fi during configuration?
Yesterday

  @Wayne-TP

This is the second C530WS I've encountered with the problem....I returned the first one thinking it must be a hardware failure. So ...I have3 x tp link Deco mesh hubs running off a Fritz! Box router which the camera refused to connect to. App discovered all neighbouring wifi networks except mine. Tried all suggestions; reset camera; reboot router and Deco hubs; closer to the hubs/router etc etc ...multiple times with no success. (but lots of swearing) Managed to set up using ethernet plugged directly into Fritz!Box but... there was then a glitch in the app which told me it couldn't set up, despite the camera being functional... it then skipped the option to set up wifi backup, so although the camera was functional whilst connected, I couldn't set up any wifi. After many, many attempts, resets etc the app finally recognised the Fritz!Box wifi signal. But it refused to recognise the Deco network which is what I needed.

The thing which finally worked for me was setting up a mobile hotspot on a second phone, using the ssid and password of the Deco network. Took 2 attempts and the signal dropped out when I first disconnected the mobile hotspot. Seems to be working now, so fingers crossed. Hope this helps, if only to reassure others that they're not going mad.
