Model: KE100 KIT
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 2.8.0

I recently purchased the KE100 kit with 6x radiator valves and the smart hub, which I have setup through my house. I have a few practical issues I'm struggling with that I think some user experience would help with.

All of the devices are installed without need for adapters (I have the standard M30 x 1.5 valves), they are all connected to the hub, firmware is up-to-date and I have run the calibration on them all.

I am using a hive thermostat to control the boiler.

1. How do I ensure that the hive thermostat is running when the various radiators around the house need heat? I didn't install a KE100 on the hall radiator where the thermostat is. However logic says that if the hall is up to temperature then the system will shut off regardless of the status of the other radiators in the house.

2. Some of the valves seem to never shut off, regardless of the room temperature (see picture). Is this common and how might I combat this?

3. Although the above image shows some rooms over 30°C, they actually aren't. It seems the valves are massively mid-reporting the room temperature as the pipe itself is getting extremely hot. I know I can buy external tado thermometers, but another 5 of those seems like a lot of extra expense. Especially since the valves do not seem to be turning off properly anyway.

Any advice on setup would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

The KE100 operates based on the settings you created in the Kasa app, it cannot detect the status of the boiler and make adjustments accordingly, unless you create some automation rules on a third-party platform that both the KE100 and the hive thermostat support.

KE100 does not automatically shut off; it will continuously operate to maintain the temperature around the set value unless you manually turn it off in the app. However, it's important to note that when in the OFF state, the thermostat valve head actually enters a frost protection mode and is not completely turned off. To fully shut it down, you need to use the 'summer mode - fully close' option on the settings page.

The displayed room temperature can be affected by KE100's installation location. For example, if the valve is placed in a small space, it may display a higher temperature than the average room temperature. You can set an offset by using KE100's temperature correction feature (KE100 Device Settings page), or consider adding a Tapo T310 or T315 temperature sensor.

  @OllieMartin

Hi Ollie

I have the same issue which I posted on the Hive forums (hope you don't mind but I saw your post here first and "borrowed" a bit ☺️).

https://community.hivehome.com/s/question/0D5Tb00000PrxyUKAR/best-way-to-set-up-kasa-ke100-radiator-valves-with-hive

Seems like there is no easy fix so going try a workaround using a Hive TVR and scheduling.

I'm thinking the Hive TVR will be on my living room rad, main room I want to keep toasty, using heat on demand (so overrides the Hive thermostat) when the temp in that room falls below a certain temp and shuts off when reached.

My 4 Kasa TVRs will be in bedrooms and bathroom set on smart control which I'm going to try and align with a Hive schedule set at 20°.  As the Kasa's seem to report the rooms are actually hotter than they are (I have tried the offset option but it seems a bit hit and miss) it may be I have to set the required temp above the reported temp so the Kasa TVRs open and allow hot water to flow to the rads.

Hope this makes sense and I'll post back tomorrow when I've tested it.
