Model: EAP330
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.4.0 Build 20180925 Rel. 37155

I currently have a setup of

> EAP225-Outdoor (EU) - Version 1
> EAP330(EU) - Version 1.0/2.0
> EAP320(EU) - Version 1.0/2.0
> EAP225-Wall(EU) - Version 2.0

> EAP225 v3 - 2 of them

My Omada Contoller OC200 - is telling me to uprade to 1.7.0 Build 20200703 Rel.59609 - the Omada SDN

Yet however as i was reading it is clear the EAP330 and EAP320 are not supported.

I find this very disappointing - since this is a software compatability not a hardware compatability. I do understand that from marketing point of view the EAP330 and the EAP 320 have been discontinued and more focus is on the cheaper EAP225 but why not continue supporting those who have paid the high price and bought the EAP 330 and the EAP 320.

As it stand my only option is to throw away 2 very good ap and buy 2 cheaper ones to be able to have compatability. Or else leave things as they are without upgrading the OC200 but losing on the new features.

Not sure if other users share my same view here?

Thanks

Kenneth

@ken481,

TP-Link's firmware policy for (not so) old hardware versions of the same model is a big issue for Western people in my opinion.

I think it would be much better to name new hardware versions with a new model name (e.g. EAP320, 321 etc.) and to set a minimum time span (say, 4 years after initial release) for firmware support of previous hardware versions. I still have EAP110 V1 on stock which I can't sell anymore to business customers.
