Hello

I got a question regarding configuration backup:

We use TL-SG3424 switch but the supplier cannot deliver them anymore, but TL-SG3424P (the POE Version).

May I restore a saved config from the none POE variant to the one with POE? Is it compatible?

I ask because our supplier delivered us model T2600G-28TS as the successor of TL-SG3424 instead and said , that it is full compatible (which is obviously not).

Appreciating any hints.

I think you could open the configuration and edit the model name to the name you want. Then you could try to restore.

Hello

thanks for your hint.
Due to bad experiences in poking config files of switches (got brick), we didn't had this in mind to do.
Now it's too late and we did a complete new setup of T2600G-28TS to our concerns, hoping it will fly like the former one.

Interface is rather different, unfortunately.

This happened now to us the 4th time in a row (with different brands of stwiches).
Why manufactors discontinue swtich models so often?
IMO, that's not necessary to cut compatibily .
(my 2ct)
