Moin moin!

Hello there!

I use various APs in the Omada network. One of them (EAP650) has a printer next to it, which is connected to the AP via LAN, and the AP is connected wirelessly (mesh) to another one.

Until a few weeks ago, everything was running smoothly, but now one of the devices seems to have gone to sleep, making it impossible to successfully complete a print job.

If I unplug the LAN cable once and plug it in again, the fun usually starts.

I can't find anything in the settings for either the older large Ricoh machine or the Omada administration.

Does anyone have any ideas that could help me?

Many thanks and best regards

Frank

PS: The IP is fixed in the AP and printer and otherwise nothing special.

Which LAN cable are you referring to? The LAN cable connecting to the printer?

Here are some suggestions you can try:

Printers, especially networked ones, often have aggressive power-saving modes.

Solution: Access the printer's web interface (usually by typing its IP address into a web browser). Look for power-saving, sleep mode, or energy-saving settings.

Disable Power Saving Mode Completely: As a test, completely disable any power-saving features. If this fixes the problem, you can then experiment with less aggressive power-saving settings.

Adjust Sleep Timer: If you want to keep some power saving, increase the sleep timer to a longer duration (e.g., 30 minutes, 1 hour).

"Wake on LAN" (WoL) Compatibility: Some printers have a Wake-on-LAN setting. While less relevant in your setup (since it's wired to the AP), ensure it's enabled if available. This might help the printer respond to network requests more reliably.

Re:Drucker an LAN des AP's
Friday

Everything is now running again.

I can only describe one solution so far. The EAP650 was connected to another EAP via wifi. A few days later, one of them stopped working and no longer wanted to establish mesh contact. After I reset and reconnected that one, everything is working again. I had already gone through the settings on the Ricoh printer and found nothing there. Setting options via Omada are also manageable for an AP.

Thank you very much!
