Slow Omada Mesh

Model: EAP225-Outdoor
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: Multiple

TP Mesh Link controlled by Omada seems very slow and causing bandwidth issues and IP cameras to breakup and stop recording for 6 to 10s intervals, seemingly randomly. Data Path is ….

2*IPC’s (cameras) … cat5 … PoE Switch V3.0 .. cat5 … AP …Wi-Fi (only 7m) … AP … cat6 … PoE Switch V3.0 then (cat5/6 to NVR Recorder and Router)

All Devices are on an Omada Controlled network with an OC200 controller v2.0, ER605 v2.0 router, with 3 PoE Switches TL-SG2008P (2* v3.0 & 1* v2.0) and total of 9 AP’s of various types [4* EAP615-Wall(EU) v1.0, 3* EAP225-Outdoor(EU) v3.0, 2* EAP610(EU) v3.0]. Unfortunately, the TP router is connected to SKY the service provider’s router, but both routers are working on different IP ranges. All devices have up to date Firmware, or at least none are requesting an upgrade via the Omada system.

If both cameras attempt to record at the same time the recording are scrambled with green sections over 1/3 or 2/3 of the picture. Spoken to Hikvision and this could be caused by a band width restriction, yet the AP’s are only 5m apart. The remote AP is only functioning as a mesh receiver and is not transmitting any visible WLAN’s i.e., it only has 2 IPC’s and the AP connected. There are 8 other AP in the building but as most of the close ones are Wall AP’s they won’t mesh to the garage which is linked to the local EAP225 outdoor AP. One thought is that, as both IPC’s use the same RTSP (Real Time Streaming Port) port number, as this is fixed and can’t be changed, there could be a conflict. This has not been a problem when 10 cameras are linked together by a switch and linked remotely, using Wi-Fi Links The HTTP and Server ports have been changed from 80 to 82 & 83, and 8000 to 8002 & 8003 respectively but his has not helped.

Any ideas why this Omada based system is not stable over such a short Wi-Fi connection?

  @InstallerDave

Did this unstable issue only occur on your cams?

Have you put the cams into another network to do a comparison test in case the issue is on the cameras?

Better to test with different cables, new or short, maybe a physical connection issue.

If you jack into the camera POE switch with your laptop, what kind of throughput do you get to the NVR?  What channel are you running your mesh on?
