I'm thinking about migrating as in subject,

since there is not a 5.7.6 linux controller package availble, can I migrate directly to 5.9.9 ?

Or would that break something?

Should I be installing a package closer to my oc200 5.7.6 version, then perform an upgrade on linux after?

Thanks

  @farmer1

You should be able to import a 5.7.6 config file from an OC200 into a 5.9.9 LInux based controller.  Use the 'Controller MIgration' wizard in the 5.9.9 controller, and just follow the steps.

Is there any drawback?. I'm also considering migration from oc200 to Linux installation. The driver is I'm moving to a vendor that implements CGNAT and my inlaws home network elements won't be able to reach the oc200 at home. To solve that I'm considering to put the controller in a VM/VPS on an IaaS provider.

  @cyruspy Or you could just purchase the TPLINK cloud controller license...and not have to worry about all the updates and maintenance etc.  I have a similar setup, and I have an OC200 at the remote site which is cloud connected, and a LInux Controller in a Docker on a NAS at the near end which is also cloud connected.  I am able to run an L2TP VPN between them, so I have the option of accessing either controller directly via their private IPs, or when I am remote, via the https://omada.tplinkcloud.com website or via a client VPN back in to one end.

I think you might find the cloud connection meets your needs and allows you to get around the CGNAT with an off the shelf controller.  If you've bought an OC200 or running a software controller locally, tere is no additional charge from TPlink to connect via their cloud service.

  @farmer1

Did exactly this 3 days ago and consigned my OC200 too the retired IT draw...

No issues with the migration, just exported the config and imported into the new controller.

I now have full tunnel VPN at last and no more router disconnects...

  @Tescophil Hi there

I tried this too - oc200 on version 5.7.6, omada docker version 5.9.9

The auto config/ migration option wouldn't work - error message was that the versions were incompatable.

Did you not see that error?

  @QuietAdmin

I didn't use the migration option, I just backed up the config from the OC200 and restored it to the software controller.

  @QuietAdmin

Yes so during the 1st part of migration, I backed up to a file to my PC, then imported etc.

As per the instructions on the PDF and in the interface.

But all seems OK, and loads faster on my old i5-4590s box I resurrected/dusted off

  @Tescophil Tried that too

"Failed to restore because of unexpected errors. Please try again later."

Hmm. Guess I will have to either *start from scratch* or wait until TP-L update the OC200. Wonder which will take longer :p
