Model: EAP615-Wall
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: V1_1.5.0 Build 20240830

Good morning, I should configure 3 of these devices to put at home, I wanted to know if it is possible to create a mesh network, also I don't understand if the omada cloud functionality is already integrated or should I get a separate controller? For home automation I will have to connect most of the devices to the 2.4 GHz network, so do you recommend making 2 separate networks for example: home_2.4ghz and home_5ghz?
Or do you recommend letting the access point manage the negotiation of the connection standard independently and therefore a single network name?
The house is on 3 levels and these APs will be connected via POE wired network.
Currently my switches are: TL-SG2424P and TL-SG1024.

Thank you.

Hi  @mhzinformatica

I would recommend using an SDN Omada controller to manage the EAP units, it will bring you the following benefits:

1. The Omada cloud function requires an Omada controller;

2. Centralized management of the three EAP units, this is more convenient than logging webpage and configuring SSIDs three times;

3. fast roaming. You don't need a mesh network, Mesh is to wireless connecting different EAP units, while you have a switch to wired connecting all of them. What you need is fast reading. With this feature enabled, most clients can improve the fast roaming experience when moving among different APs;

4. As for the band config, fast roaming requires the SSIDs to be the same. So you can create an SSID combined with 2.4G and 5G;

5. Enable Band steering:  With this feature enabled, dual-band clients will be steered to the 5 GHz band when appropriate. The 5 GHz supports a larger number of non-overlapping channels and is less noisy, so this feature can improve your network performance.

Now that most of your clients are 2.4G, you can enable this feature to balance those 5 G-supported clients connected to 5G band.

  @Vincent-TP

How do you suggest to connect the omada OC200 with my actual switch?

  @mhzinformatica

You can plug the OC200 into any POE port.

Below set up video, you can have a look.
