Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Hello,

I have aquired my first TP Link Router. Not yet using OMADA for the config.

My setup is:

Router with Modem (LAN1 - 192.168.2.1) -> Router with Wifi (LAN2 - 192.168.1.1) -> ER-605 (LAN3 - 192.168.0.1)

Problem:

When connected to LAN2, I can reach web interface of LAN1 as well as all clients in LAN2, but can't reach web interface of LAN3. When in LAN3 I can reach web interface of LAN1 and LAN2.

1. When in LAN2, I should be able to reach at least the web interface of LAN3.

2. When in LAN2, I can't reach any client of LAN3, which is the biggest problem for me.

In my understanding, if I am connected to LAN2 it should know that traffic for 192.168.0.X will need to be directed to the LAN3 (I even established a fixed routing for this in LAN2).

Is there a configuration in LAN3/TP Link to allow that I can access from LAN2?

Thanks in advance for all feedback and tips.

SFGD

  @SFGD

TPlink routers are NAT-only (1:Many) and do not support classic routing such as you seem to be describing.  Your triple-NAT setup is far from ideal, and you will never be happy with trying to access LAN3 nodes from LAN2 or LAN1.

In the TPlink world, they expect Modem->Router->Switch, and each subnet you require would have it's own VLAN on the switch.  LAN to LAN routing is then controlled by the Router via Policy and ACL.

Hi @SFGD

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

I think you misunderstand NAT. No, this is not gonna work. Not only on TP-Link but all routers. Why would it know where it routes? Not to mention ER605 should not know because it is the third router in this network.

If you are talking about the web interface of the router, access the WAN IP of the ER605 (which is an IP address from LAN2 192.168.1.1/24). You never access ER605 by 192.168.0.1 while your IP address is 192.168.1.1/24.

And this access only happens when your IP address is 192.168.1.1/24

If you want to access a device from the ER605 LAN(192.168.0.1) while your device IP address is 192.168.1.1/24, you should port forward the IP from 192.168.0.1/24. This port forward should be done on the ER605.
