Hi,  prior to 2.1.1 Build 20230115 Rel.77774 i had a number of issues with variable speed and timeout of internet connection, Since updating firmware on the ER605 my performance and connectivity has gotten worse.

 

I have a Huawei DNA  B715s-23c 4G LTE Model with external antennas connecting to FREE France.   the From the Modem Router i have assigned a static IP for the ER605 WAN

and have different DHCP range for the ER605 LAN

 

DNA  B715s-23c 4G LTE Model Hardware version WL1B610FM05 Software version 11.198.01.00.182

 

 

When i connect a laptop or WLAN direct to the DNA 4GLTE modem, i get perfect connection and download speeds with no issues.

 

But the ER605 seems to have issues.

any thoughts?

Dear  @Greig 

 

There are many factors may lead to this issue, I will need more information. 

 

1. Are you still able to login to this ER605 web interface when the issue happens?

2. On the ER605 System Log, are you able to see some notes like "WAN down"?

3. Please run a continuously Ping test from your client PC to the ER605 and to the public DNS 8.8.8.8. 

If you can always receive Ping reply from 8.8.8.8, then on the ER605 LAN->DHCP settings, change the Primary DNS to 8.8.8.8

1) yes i am able to connect to the ER605 via local IP to WebUI, and via local access from omada app.. however cloud access does not work (even though locally it is indicated that the device is connect to the cloud) connection establishing spinwheel keeps on spinning

2) i have checked the log and there are no WAN down notifications

3) i have run the continious ping to ER605 local IP and 8.8.8.8 from my lapop and both respond.  i did get a few time outs from the 8.8.8.8 during inital ping and sporadicly through out the duration

 

i would say its mainly websites that get blocked.. i wonder if its port related.  

as Teams (just my luck) seems to run video calls without issue.  but the teams calender sometimes fails to update.  ditto imsg come though slowly.   i tried to updae the OS on a homepod mini, and it kept failing to connect to apple ditto when i did a ios update on my iphone.    i even noticed icloud.com failed to load on multiple devices.    it took several attempts at reloading the page to login to tp link.  this was also the case with using iphones and ipads with access on same WIFI network.   (disconnecting the iphone from WIFI and using 4g and everything was fine)

 

I have since done a further test where i have disconnected the ER605 and removed it from from my network..   instead i have connected the 2x tp-link unmanaged switches directly to my 4GLTE Router (DHCP is now done via the 4GLTE router without issue) the OC200 and AP's all obtain IP from the 4GLTE router without fuss.  I can then access the internet on all devices without any issues.

 

I have left the ER605 disconnected whilst i await further suggestions on possible solutions.     as i also wanted to setup a new full size homepod i received today, and needed reliable internet for the pupose.

 

so its one of two devices that could be the issue

either 

1) the ER605 has an issue (hardware or software) with the way it accesses the internet via WAN (And shares internet access to my LAN). beit DHCP or other issue

or

2) the 4GLTE Router has some issue with a ER605 being connected.... (im open to suggestions of trying bridge mode

i guess i will try a new network cable between ER605 and 4gLTE router.

 

I have an open ticket TKID230210789 which is being looked at by Skyler Ye.  i have also given him cloud viewer access to my OC200. (altough whilst my ER605 is disconnected perhaps that is not so helpful.

Have you tried to change the ER605 DHCP DNS to 8.8.8.8, like I mentioned before? 

 

According to the ping test result I suspect it's just a DNS issue.

  @Hank21as per earlier screenshot DNS was always set as 8.8.8.8 on the ER605.
