Model: ER7206 (TL-ER7206)
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.23

Hi all,

Getting the kinks worked out of my network. I have a er7206 connected to two wireless providers using DHCP.  First wan works just find that provider uses Ubiquiti.  My second wan1/lan1 is using Codium Networks.  The second wan, wan1 throws errors every time dhcp renews saying the codium box fails to respond and it doesn't get an ip address.  After about 20 seconds it does pull a new ip address but not before it disrupts the internet.

Any suggestions?  Thanks.  I suspect I'm hitting a bug.  My Cisco Meraki doesn't have this issue.

What's the IP address of your Codium Networks router?

Try set up a static IP on ER7206 WAN/LAN1. If the problem is related to DHCP, a static IP can solve it.

Thank you.  The coduim radio hands out a 172.x.x.x address.  I was able to get the wan backup.  My newest issue is after moving to 1.2.3 multi-player games such as world of warship randomly disconnects usually during match making. It doesn't appear to be thr internet dropping as we have voice chat and i can still talk with the other players. I don't recall having this issue with 1.2.2 so I opened a ticket with tp-link and requested 1.2.2.

I was able to obtain 1.2.2 from tech support.  DHCP now works again.  I guess I'll run that a while.

Now i'm tracing the gaming issue.  Not sure if its a policy routing issue, bug or something with the routers attack defense.  I've disabled almost all of the attack defense features and created a policy route for the game traffic that will only send it out a single wan.

Thanks for the help.

The game issue is caused by double-NAT.

The solution is to make your front modem router as pure modem mode, so the ER7206 WAN can obtain public IP directly.

Thanks.  I don't think its a double nat issue.  I was able to trace this down to a policy routing issue.  If I leave link backup disabled and configure policy routing everything appears to be working. I can route a subnet, a workstation and/or this game out an interface.  It seems after some time or something gets tripped with policy routing enabled it disconnects. If I enable link backup and designate a single wan as the primary no load balancing the game will run fine for hours. With link backup though the router acts like its ignoring policy routing.  For example my workstation continues to go out the primary wan even when policy routing says for this single ip use the second wan.

I will play more with it today.  Its quirky but were getting there.
