Model: Tapo C425
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.22 build 240920

I have three C425s. Yesterday, two of them installed firmware 1.2.22, and have not recovered. I have done multiple rounds of power cycling and resetting the cameras, to no avail. I can get them as far as briefly displaying red and green lights and having their WiFi available, but I cannot reconfigure the cameras.

I still have one functioning camera on firmware 1.2.21, and I've disabled auto firmware updates for that camera.

Is there any way to recover the two units with 1.2.22, or are they uncoverable? They are only two weeks old. I have contacted Tapo support and am awaiting a response.

Same here. This update has been an abomination. I spent hours trying to get the app to recognize the camera again. I've finally connected and now it keeps telling me to format the SD card according to the app's guidelines (whatever they are). When I've managed to get the app to format, it fails. It's generally unresponsive and doesn't work. It was mostly fine before the firmware update, though it did occasionally tell me the SD card needed formatting. I've tried a brand new card. Same story. I think I'll return it. I've had enough wasting time on it.

@Derb same here. The two that are bricked are going back to Amazon.

I've got to assume that Wirecutter and PC Magazine were well paid for their positive reviews.
