I have tried several of the methods to reconfigure the tplink plug in via both an previous version and updated apps of KASA. The efforts are failing every time. Can you help me?

I would be more than happy to help. You will always have the best experience using the latest version of the Kasa App.
If the device was previously set up: Hold the Power Button for 5 Seconds to reset the network settings, or 10 seconds for a factory reset.
At this point, the device will be in setup mode and you should be able to set up the device through the Kasa app.
At what point in the setup process is it failing? Are you able to see the default Wi-Fi network broadcast by the plug for setup?
What Specific Device are you setting up?
