XE5300 Top Ethernet Port not Working
Hello,
Over the ownership of the Deco XE5300 I noticed my one laptop dock wired to port 1 (top most port) Ethernet of the 2nd Deco stop getting an IP address and was assigned APIPA 169.254.x.x. Now my Synology NAS is not getting an ip address either after power cycling on the main Deco, also the top most port. I rebooted the Decos and the NAS. All Decos are connected via Ethernet on the second ports and Ethernet backhaul is enabled. Is there a fix for this? No issue with 2.4/5/6 GHz wireless ever.

@David-TP Swapping the units following the directions from the first link worked. I have 3 APs and one of them wasn't using any ports so I swapped the main with it and everything came up as expected. Thank you 🙏
However, that isn't a fix but a workaround. Also, it is likely that whatever cause the port failure will happen to the newly replaced unit based on the comments and number of people that had this same issue occur around the same time but not related to any change. (e.g., firmware update) It could be from the firmware but takes time for the port to fail. We shall see. I'll post back if it happens to the new unit.

Thanks for sharing. My concern is that it took a few months to happen the first time and if there's something defective in the hardware, I want the issue to be fully resolved while still under warranty. Swapping router hardware is on my list of least fun things ever, so not a good taste for my first tp-link router. My previous Asus router lasted over a decade without any hardware issues...

@Insaneoctane I am with you. That is why I bought mine at Costco. :) Do a backup and restore of the config. (100% on least fav thing to do, though)

Hi David,
I just ran into the same weird issue with Eth port 1 not being able to come up properly.
I used the work around to promote another unit to Main and it seems to currently have all ports functioning but as others have stated, seems like it could be a matter of time till port 1 on this unit fails.
Any thoughts?

Hi, Thanks for the feedback.
May I know how long you have had the Deco XE5300?
I think you could refer to this link to register for warranty service:
