Model: Deco BE63
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I recently bought a Deco BE63 and am having an issue where during an MS Teams work call, the Deco system will drop the laptop for a short period of time and then it reconnects.  On my phone app, when the laptop is dropped it shows up in an "unknown" state before it reconnets back to the Deco unit.

This seems like a common issue with Deco and MS Teams not working well together. I have tried every troubleshooting advice I found on these forums, i.e. disable beamforming.  I also moved the units to ensure the laptop gets a strong signal and verfied with a speed test the connection is good.  I have fast roaming enabled, however, I have disabled mesh on the laptop so it shouldn't matter here.  I also made the laptop high priority via QoS.  Firmware is at the latest/up-to-date.  Nothing fixes this issue.

MS Teams worked perfectly fine with no issues on my previous ASUS mesh system.  I love this system otherwise and I hate to switch to some other brand, however,  I can't deal with dropping Teams connections much longer because this is needed for my job.

One thing I thought I can try is move my secondary unit closer to the main unit to get a better signal.  It is currently a "medium" signal (main router unit to secondary AP unit).  However, IMO, that doesn't explain why that unit dropped the laptop when the laptop had a strong signal to it.

I also didn't find anything in the system logs that would indicate any kind of error.

UPDATE:  I moved my secondary station closer to the main to get a strong signal and also right near the laptop in question.  A little while later I just witnessed the secondary unit drop all the connections, they all moved to the primary (except the laptop since it is tied to secondary only, it just lost connection) and then they all slowly started to move back to the secondary.  Something is seriously wrong here.  I'm probably going to return these units in the next day or so unless there is some known, solid fix for this.

@redoctober45 I'm having Teams issues too.

  • I have my main router not too far from my desk. Probably like 5 to 6 feet away. My work laptop connects wirelessly with Wifi 6. Beamforming turned off
  • While I'm in my office, Teams will report "Poor network quality" and my audio will drop out for 15 seconds and connect. I can't hear them but they can hear me just fine
  • If i'm further away from the main router, Teams works fine
  • The rest of my network is fine. No issues with connectivity with all of my other devices
  • If I switch to 5Hz while in the office, Teams seems to work fine. If I connect via Ethernet, it works fine as well.

Not a big deal for me and it could be my work device (haven't used Teams on other devices with Wi-Fi 6) but it's definitely weird.
