Model: Archer GE800
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.5 Build 20240919 rel.58889(5553)

New GE-800 router, I set up the MLO wi-fi network and works just fine when first connected to it with my Galaxy S24 Ultra. I have a 1 gig down service to the house and it always stays steady as a rock with my Smart Connect network (2.4, 5 & 6 GHz combined, also LAN).  But after connecting to my MLO wi-fi network for a couple hours, speed drops from close to a gig, to only a couple hundred meg.  Disconnect and reconnect to MLO and speed is right back up where it should be, as judged by Ookla Speedtest each time, utilizing the same server.  I live in a low interference residential neighborhood, with non-congested channels.  I've tried leaving the wi-fi channel on Auto and switching to several other channels (1, 6, 11) with same results.  Currently on channel 1, as it is farthest from my Arlo camera system channel.  Router is in a great place for whole house wi-fi reception, so no issues there... just the annoying download speed loss after a while of little or no use.  Which my non-MLO network does not experience at all.  Also all cables throughout are new Cat-6 and firmware is latest version.  MLO seems to be the only issue, which allows greater speed combining wi-fi 7 along with the other 3 bands at close range from router.  I hope most of this made sense... though I have 30 years in computer repair, networking is not my strong point.  Thank you in advance...

ive got the same router. v1.6 latest firmware.

5gig frontier service. wired speeds are 5.5 up/down.

ive got about 40 iot devices on the iot network.

ive got mlo activated as well as smart connect.

wireless laptop and computer, both windows, both have wifi 7 cards in them. connect to mlo right away. speeds are 1.9 ish up/ 1.5 ish down. okla sped test. wired laptop has full fios speeds.

samsung z fold 6 - 1.9 down/1.4 up - best 2 out of 3. connectd to mlo network

apple 16 pro max 1tb - 1.5 down/ 1.4 up - best 2 out of 3 on mlo network

sometimes i have notcied with the apple phone, it will just slow to a crawl at certain times of the day. i have to disconnect it from wifi. running dev beta on apple phone. i read on reddit the apple phone has some issues with wifi 7.

overall the router has been solid performer for me.

Thanks for the reply... So far, my Speedtest issue has only been noted on my Galaxy S24 Ultra. I'll have to try the same test on my Lenovo Legion laptop as well, since everything else is Cat 6 ethernet wired. though the laptop may be port limited for speed, not sure... it still should show a significant loss, if the issue is router (firmware) related... see if it develops a speed loss as well, or if this anomaly is tied to the current OS within the S24 Ultra only. As far as your iPhone goes, that may be something along the lines of what I'm experiencing on my S24 Ultra... very strange occurrence, since it starts off at full speed, but then significant lag at some point after screen lock and parade rest. Possibly not enough people setting up MLO with this router to draw further attention here (testing), as you have been the only reply thus far. Steve W.

  @Sweeks888

I just bought a be9300 and it had the same issue with my iPhone 16 pro.

During setup there is a firmware update and I did updated. (1.0.11 Build 20240807 rel.27190)

I have one gig up and down. When I'm connected to 6Ghz band I'm getting 800/950 up down in close range. Smart band(2.4ghz & 5ghz) I'm getting 600/700 most part. But when connected to MLO( should be 5Ghz & 6Ghz) band auto switches. First 30 minutes of connection is good 700/850 up down. After that it goes down to 25/9 down up. And I have to disconnect and reconnect and it jumps back up to speed then it slows down again.  What's going on ? Is my router defected or firmware issue.

and thanks for your reply, and for posting this. maybe tplink will notice it. ive setup for the beta but have not been let in yet. ive been waiting for weeks. i also agree most folks have not setup mlo to really notice if any issues are occurring. when i see this happen on iphone, i just use cellular and then reconnect a short time later and its back up and running. the z fold 6 has been solid on mlo - ive seen the iphone even switch to another band on its own -- the z fold 6 hasnt. maybe if we speak more about this, others will chime in, at at least make people aware of it. ive scoured this forum and your post was the first.

  @Nyquist-Shannon

what model are you using?

so it looks like all TP link wifi 7 routers had MLO issues? OP is using GE800 and I'm using BE9300. so that being said its firmware issue I shouldn't return it?

Edit: does TP link even read their community forums? and did anyone report this issue to TP link ?

ive got the ge800. i sent tp an email about this. nothing back. this was weeks ago. ive seen a lot of threads on here with no official responses form tp -- this makes me think they only respond to low hangin fruit type of questions that are easy to answer.

  @Bt11

My guess would be a firmware issue, and not an issue with the router itself, this anomaly seems too wide spread throughout different models, to be anything other than firmware and apparently not exclusive to one phone brand either (since I'm using Samsung S24 Ultra).  One would hope TP-Link is aware of this and working on a sollution.

That is my thought as well, issue too wide spread throughout different TP-Link models to be anything other than Firmware.  Thanks for chiming in, glad to know not only me.

again thanks for bringing this up on here - hopeful it will get some traction from the mods. as with your s24, im seeing similar behavior on the 16 pro max 1tb but not on my x fold 6 - hopeful as more people get online with mlo , this will help. the reason i dont use hard wired cat 6 on 2 of my machines it because the ethernet port is SLOWER than the wifi 7 cards in installed. mlo is really nice!
