Model: Archer BE900
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.1.1 Build 20240929 rel.12298(5553)

The new firmware for BE900 router enables MLO, but I get no Internet access through VPN client feature. Everything looks OK and says Im connected, but no internet access. This feature was working just fine before the firmware upgrade. I did do a factory reset to try and see if that would help, but same thing. I have also tried deleting all references to VPN client and reinstalling same. Still no internet accesss. As soon as I switch off client feature I get Internet access. Also just to make sure nothing wrong with VPN, I installed the VPN's Windows client and it works like it shoud. So this seems to be a feature of the new firmware.I will have to use the VPN windows software until this gets fixed unless their is a solution?

  Hi @Snoid,

Welcome to the community!

Thanks for sharing your experience with the latest firmware update on your BE900. This is rather unexpected behavior.

Can you please help us better understand what may be going on by providing a few more insights into your setup?

  1. If you disable the MLO network on your BE900, does it result in the restoration of Internet connectivity through your VPN?

  2. What type of VPN option / configuration are you using?

  3. Who is your VPN provider?

@Snoid MLO network is not turned on and the no internet problem occurs.(I noticed that MLO was an option after upgrade. I briefly turned it on, then off as I have no wifi 7 devices yet)

I use OpenVPN configurations.

I installed OpenVPN connect, and used the exact same OpenVPN files used in the router and internet is active and correct geolocation.

In other words, it works great using OpenVPN Connect

.

My provider is PIA, but every  VPN connection method but the router connects properly.

Also, the VPN function was working great before the firmware upgrade.

I just removed all VPN files and re-entered them, but problem remains.

I have done a factory default reset and tried removing all VPN files and re-enter them.

There are no error messages just no internet access as long as VPN client is turned on in BE900 router. As soon as I turn off the VPN client, I get access.

Everything else appears to be working properly, I have internet access for all non VPN clients.

I can still use my VPN by using PIA's windows client software or OpenVPN Connect. Both work well,

But it would be nice to be able to use the VPN Client of BE900 router.

Thanks for looking into this.
