Model: Deco   LS1008G
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.5 Build 20231122 Rel. 58711

Hi,

I have a Deco AX3000 PoE connected to a TP-Link LS108GP via Cat6 cabling. Power is not being sent to the access point - the power light on the access point never comes on, and the power light for the port on the switch never lights. I've tried:

* Connecting the switch directly to an outlet (as opposed to through a surge protector)

* A different switch (the 5 port model of the same - LS105)

The access point works just fine when powered by the provided DC adapter.

The cable is a 100 foot segment, well under the PoE cable length constraints

Auto Recovery and Extended modes are off on the switch.

I've confirmed that both support the 'at' standard of the PoE spec.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!a

  @Ryan Thanks for replying!

I determined the problem was indeed the cable. I moved the PoE switch to another uplink and tried a patch cable. It was odd because it the cable provided power for a day or so before ceasing to work.

Hi @KyleC,

Thanks for joining the community!

Have you tried using a different Ethernet cable between the PoE switch and Deco X50-PoE? If you don't want to mess with another 100-foot run, you can also try using a shorter cable by bringing the Deco closer to the switch for testing purposes.

Which Ethernet port on the Deco are you using to connect?

Have you tried both the 1Gbps and 2.5Gbps ports to see if there is any change in behavior?

@KyleC I'm Glad you were able to determine the cause!

Odd as it is, fluke Ethernet cable failures can occur. As for what caused the cable to fail, it would be difficult to discern without being able to test the cable and the environment itself.
