The router i am currently using is hardware version 1.  I purchased another router and this one is version 1.6.  Whats the difference?

There appears to be ONLY 1 h/w version, V1 of the router.

Maybe you mean the F/W versions, there are 3 that is possible on the above link.

Well, I looked at my A20 V1, and it is a V1.8, but still only a V1 (V3 is out).

 

I'd think that .x means something to TP-Link. Either some manufacturing difference with similar components, but works the same. Possibly the production run so they could track problems and see if it was due to production. Or even the country either produced in or sold in.

 

It still is a V1. There is no driver other that a V1 driver, that is none for a .x sub-version.

 

However, I'll leave for a TP-Link Moderator to verify.

In the middle it shows made in Vietnam which applies to v1.6 can also apply to devices os v1.8, if you look at the 1.0, it should say China I believe.
