Model: Archer A9
Hardware Version: V6
Firmware Version: 1.1.0 Build 20200416 rel.72485(5553)

I was hoping to port forward my TP-Link router to be able to host Minecraft servers publicly, but no matter what I do nothing will work. I have set up Virtual Servers with my computer's IPv4 Address/my router's assigned IP address (two different IPs) alongside Minecraft's port (25565), I have used Port Triggering on port 25565, I've made my Internet's connection type static, I've used Address Reservation on both my Router's IP and my computer's IP, so on and so forth. No matter what I do I cannot get port 25565 forwarded, as every attempt I have checked various Open Port Checker websites and all of them have timed out on port 25565. All I ask: How do I port forward this specific router model? And how do I get it so that I can host public Minecraft servers? It seems so easy yet is so difficult at the same time. Do note I do not wish to port forward this router to anything besides Minecraft, at least at the moment.

I appreciate any help.

Your Xfinity gateway is blocking the port because that is also a firewall so doing port forwarding in the A9 is not enough.

Just like you did port forwarding in the Archer A9, you need to now log into the Xfinity device and do port forwarding for the A9 using the same port.

Here is an example below of how double port forwarding looks, the IP addresses may be different from what you find. Logging into the A9 and looking at the status page (Advanced Menu) will show you what IPs you have.:

ISP modem/router (Xfinity)

LAN IP: 10.0.0.1

Port forwarding:

IP: 10.0.0.20 (IP the A9 got from the Xfinity router)

Port: 25565

Archer A9

WAN IP: 10.0.0.20

LAN IP: 192.168.0.1

Port forwarding:

IP: 192.168.0.100 (IP of server)

Port: 25565

To summarize, you port forward in the Xfinity for the Archer A9, in the Archer A9 you port forward for the server. In doing that you can then open up the port you need.

If the modem that the Archer A9 is connecting to is also a router. In other words when connecting to the modem/router you get an IP of 192.168.x.x, then you need to do double port forwarding. You would forward the IP the C9 got from the ISP router, and use the same port.

Another thing to try is to set the IP of the Minecraft server to a DMZ which should work if the A9 is the only router on the network.

What is a DMZ? I do get a 192.168.x.x IP, the modem my A9 is connecting to is an Xfinity Wireless Gateway which is both a modem and a router. Where is the ISP IP located? I see a 192.168.x.x IP located under LAN in my router's setup page, would that be it?

The A9 won't let me port forward the IP my A9 got from the Xfinity router (says Internal IP cant be same as LAN IP) so I forwarded my IPv4 address instead, however getting someone to join my server was unsuccessful. I have my router port forwarded on my Gateway (gateway is reserving the IP address of the A9's Internet address) and I have my IPv4 address port forwarded on my A9 on the port 25565, it of which is the IP of my server. But still no success. What am I doing wrong?
