Model: Archer AX50
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.8 Build 20200426 rel.65338(4555)

Hi All,

I recently bought this router, and in general I'm really happy with it.

One problem though, sometimes when multiple devices are connected through Wifi (sometimes 13 clients) the Wifi drops completely but wired connections are still working fine. After about half a minute the Wifi connection is back and all clients re-connect. Some days this happens multiple times in an hour.

Here some things I already tried:

- Disable 5Ghz

- Disable IPV6

- Change channels and channel width with all possible values

- Disable OFDMA

- Disable Smart connect

- Disable Airtime fairness

- Reset to factory defaults (mutliple times)

- Disconnect some of the wireless devices

The latest firmware is installed.

How someone can help!

Thanks!

@Eduan

You pretty much did most of what I would have tried. One other thing I would do is to change your wireless modes so neither band is using AX. Finally, I would upload the latest firmware, even though it already does to see if that may resolve any software issue.

@Eduan I am having similar issues.  I don't drop the connection just internet access.  I have 2 routers, one in the basment and I can conenct to it and have access but the AX50, upstairs, looses internet connection.  The AX50 is hardwired down to the gateway.  The lack of statistics on this compared to other AP/Routers is a letdown too.

@manders500 This sounds like a different problem, is this happening when you are connected via ethernet (cable) or only on wifi?

@manders500 Ok. Right after I posted this thread on this forum I went in and did a full reset (again) on the router and chose another SSID when setting it up again and didn't see the weird behavior again till now. I also did a factory reset on most of my home automation products which are all connected via wifi, maybe that helped.. not sure though.

@Eduan When my devices "drop" I have WiFi connection to the SSID but cannot get to anything and I get the "No Internet" message or icons on my devices.  I reboot the AX50 and it comes back for a period of time.

@Eduan I ended up disabling the smart connect and dropped the 2.4 frequency and everything has been good so far.

@manders500 Ah! Thanks for letting me know! But, in that case I would think it had some interference issues on 2.4? Did you try enabling Smart Connect again to see if it acts up again?

I never had the problem again after resetting the router and most of my hardware that are connected via WiFi.

@Eduan I decided to just skip the 2.4 as I have good coverage in my house with the 5 and have not had any issues still.
