Friday
Model: Deco X55
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 20241010 Rel. 65389

Since I updated my 3 Deco X55 mesh network to the firmware listed on my post, when I carry my year-old Windows 11 Lenovo Yoga 6 laptop around the house it does not connect to the closest unit, but remains connected to the furthest unit, resulting in much slower internet speed.  I can force it to change using the app, but isn't roaming supposed to happen automatically?

Mesh technology is switched on for the laptop.  Fast Roaming is enabled and Beamforming is disabled for the X55s.  The laptop is connected via Wifi 6.

Anything else I should check?

  @GDAlex

The Deco can make suggestions to the laptop about which Deco to connect to, and when to change, but the laptop decides.

How do you force it to change using the app?

What does the laptop do if you disconnect it from the wifi network?  Does it reconnect to the closest Deco?

Does the wireless card of the laptop allows controlling its roaming aggressiveness?  You can see that in the advanced tab of the properties of the card.

Before the firmware update, my laptop would roam around the house and connect to the nearest unit. I can change it by using the app, selecting the device, then Connection Preference, and then the Deco I want to connect to. But when I move it again, I need to go through this same process. The preferred connection preference is Auto, which is supposed to do this on its own.
