What I have available is a debug firmware. Debug firmwares are a specific type of Beta firmware that includes a debugging function that allows our engineers to better diagnose and address concerns. This firmware is based on the recent release of the BE85 v2 and includes several new features and fixes. Just note that with it being a Beta firmware, stability and functionality cannot be guaranteed as Beta firmware should be considered a work in progress.  If you would like to partake, you can use this link

Please feel free to feedback on your experience both here and/or on our subreddit and if you have any questions please Tag me, or any of our other admins and we will be happy to help.

Carl, thanks a lot for the link to the beta. I will pass on any issues I find.

Richard

I got the download (thank you).

 Issues after installing the beta:

1.  The Decos show a solid red light and say they're offline in the Deco app when using either Quad9 or Google DNS services. The green light comes back and they're online when using AdGuard and Cloudflare DNS services.

What's really weird is that my devices can still get online normally even though the Decos show every indication of being offline with Quad9 and Google DNS.

2.  A weird SSID, zEQQ33hFAoPHD7uw

made up of scrambled letters and numbers, shows up in my list of WiFi networks. The SSID disappears when the BE95's are unplugged. A similar weird SSID is visible with the BE85's, which have the latest released firmware.

Hello Richard, I want to say for point number 2, the scrambled SSID is the backhaul network that the Decos establish to link themselves to each other.  I believe this is in the works of being made a hidden network so it doesn't show up in an available list and create confusion.

For point number 1, I am not sure if that is just a result of this being a beta firmware or if it is something more that needs to be looked into.  Either way, I shared both comments with our Engineering team and will get back to you as soon as possible.

I also want to let you know responses next week will be limited due to the holiday and PTO for the team.  If I don't get back to you by the End of business Friday, then I will first thing on 12/30.

@Richardj186 Hey I'm in the middle of trying to troubleshoot my setup as well. Yours somewhat sounds similar to mine even different model (Deco BE63). Just a quick question, do you have any switch in between your main Deco and your satellites?

Point number 2, thank you.

Point number 1 started with BE95 firmware V1.6_1.0.20 Build 20240601, so it doesn't appear to be specifically related to the beta firmware. Maybe a bug in how the router determines if it's online?

No, I'm not using any switches on my network. @Carl this could be the same bug affecting multiple routers. Possible?

@Richardj186 One thing that has been a neusance on our BGW320-500 has been failure to Passthrough the WAN IP.  I ended up assigning it manually since I have never seen it change.  (AT&T has a longish 24 hr DHCP lease).  Have you verified the BE95 is getting a WAN address vs 192.168.1.64 or so?

@jzchen yes it is getting a WAN IP address fine. The issue is with those two DNS services.

On rhe BGW320-500, if you go to Diagnostics>Resets, you can try resetting the Broadband connection and releasing the gateway's IP address. That might help you get the address for your BE95.

The gateway's WAN IP address is NOT supposed to change very often; it doesn't change often with any ISP's.

However, go to the Passthrough screen and make sure the DHCP lease time there is set to 10 minutes; that will make sure your BE95's DHCP lease is released and renewed frequently.

@Richardj186 I set it to 1 Day, same as assigned to the BGW320 when it is set to router mode, (actually it's the same in IP Passthrough because the RG Ethernet ports still get assigned IP addresses).

I'm not sure I want the lease to get released and renewed quicker than the ISP sets it to their own provided gateway?
