I bought this mesh system so that I would have Wi-Fi outside on my patio. I set it up and indeed I did get Wi-Fi outside, but the mesh system caused several other issues that made me take it out and go back to my normal router.  Perhaps some users can give me advice on how to set it up and give it another try

First, I should say that my original setup used a Motorola combination modem/router. I put it into bridge mode so as to use it purely as a modem, then I connected the Deco mesh to it.

I have landline phone service through Xfinity, and that was the first thing that went wrong.  The Deco prevented incoming calls from reaching me. When I realize this was happening, I rebooted the Motorola device and the phones worked properly for a while.  Intermittently, though, I got a dialtone, but when I tried to make a call, it rang once and went dead.  If I fussed around with rebooting either the Deco system or the Motorola modem, I could get it to work for a while, but it would go haywire whenever I made any kind of change to the network.

Next, the Wi-Fi thermostat that controls my air conditioning stopped working. I didn't initially attribute that to the Deco system, but as I troubleshooted it, I could see that it was continually dropping Wi-Fi service.  I tried configuring the Deco to take the thermostat out of the mesh network and chose 2.4 ghz as the preferred bandwidth (which the contractor told me the thermostat preferred) but the problem continued.

Finally, I was on a zoom call last evening on my desktop computer and could hardly participate because the network was so unstable even though I was sitting next to the home Deco device. It froze continually. Once again, I tried configuring the Deco system so that My computer was not in the mesh network. I kept the bandwidth at auto.

Along the way I updated the firmware.  Nothing fixed these problems.  Unless there is a better way for me to configure it, I'm going to get rid of it and go back to what I had.
