Hey folks,

Before I describe my issue, I do want to say that the issue has been resolved. However, due to my work-from-home situation, it is urgent that we prevent this issue from occurring in the future. Thus, I am looking for advice to prevent this issue from happening again.

The issue:

This is a newly purchased Archer AX3200. The router had been working fine throughout our first full week of use.

However, around 12:30pm today, our router suddenly went offline. It was giving us a solid red light. In the Tether app, the device had a "cloud device (offline)" label and the only information I could see on the Tether app was the router's name, the device model, and the MAC address. This is a different experience when comparing it to the day we set up the device in which we received a red light for no internet but still could access the device (i.e. in the past we could still see device connected to it).

We confirmed that our ISP was still running fine and that this was strictly a router issue.

We went through basic troubleshooting of unplugging the router and trying multiple alternative cables into the WAN port. Neither worked. We plugged the router into our OTHER ISP's modem (this has worked before and yes, we have two ISPs for the next 3 weeks) in which the issues were still occurring.

Eventually, we factory reset the router and attempted to set the router up the same way we did when we first purchased it. This actually did not work on multiple occasions, even when trying it with our backup ISP's network that was still working on every device through their generic modem.

We did notice that we got a blue light when we plugged either ISP's network into the 2.5 gbps port instead of the 1gbps port, however, this worked only briefly and never allowed us to connect to the router.

After 2 hours of getting nowhere, we finally were able to set up the router again after yet another factory reset. At first, it wouldn't allow me to use a password. It claimed it was too long or had symbols but, even when I was trying to use the most basic password possible. However, it finally went through and setup the network just fine.

So with all of that said, how can I prevent this issue from occurring in the future?

I would check to see if the ips is providing a static or dynamic address and what settings you have on the router.

Sounds  like you lost the ip address from the isp. To correct, you need to power off and unplug both the modem and router. Wait 10 min, plug in and power up the modem, wait for it to connect with the isp, then plug in and power up the router.
