I recently have been having some wifi issues and have done reboot and firmware shows up to date. I can not acces through tether app as it shows offline. I noticed last night red light is on and steady. However I do have internet and wifi.  This router is only year and half is this an issue requiring replacement already or can this be fixed?

It sounds more like an internet interruption but not a hardware issue.

 

Who is your ISP? When the internet LED on the router turns red, can you login to the router's web page to check if it still gets a WAN IP address from the network? If there is still a WAN IP address, try to manually change the internet DNS servers to Google's 8.8.8.8 or Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1, then save and reboot the router to observe if the internet is back.
