@marmardes No the main Deco must be connected by Ethernet cable on the Internet side.

 

A single Deco can, depending on the ISP, be used as modem, or, connected by cable to the modem, as Access Point.  The wifi of the Deco is usually vastly superior to the wifi of the modem.

i installed 4 deco and they are all set in AP mode since they are all directly wired to the router. Now, i would like to add one more deco but that one cannot be wired so i was wondering how can i add one more deco to existing network? is it possible to set it as repeater for one of existing ap deco units...? If not, what do you suggest to do with that additional deco which cant be wired? Thanks!

  @marmardes I assume the existing four Deco are configured together as a single mesh, and the mesh is configured as an Access Point.

You can add the fifth Deco to the mesh.  You can connect it by cable to one of the other Deco, or you can let it connect via wifi to the most suitable Deco (it will decide dynamically what is the most suitable).

Thanks for the fast reply! Yes they are all set as mesh and then set as access points. The fifth cant be wired to any of these units so it has to be over wifi. I guess i just leave it as it is, i cant set it up as AP...

  @marmardes The fifth one can be added to the mesh via wifi, and will extend the wifi network.

You never setup individual Deco as AP, you configure the Operation Mode of the whole mesh to "Router" or to "AP".
