Firmware Version: 1.2.0 Build 20231221 Rel. 61901

I am trying to take advantage of the Deco X60 v4's VPN server functionality but would like to use my own DNS on the VPN connection.

I am currently running a pihole on my network at 192.168.1.76. Under the Deco's DHCP Server settings I have set the pihole as the Primary DNS and everything is working as expected. DNS requests are being served by the pihole and I can surf the internet without ads across all the devices on my local network.

When I enable a VPN server on the Deco X60, I am able to connect to the Deco's VPN using an OpenVPN profile and the Passpartout iOS application on my iPhone. However, after connecting to the VPN and reviewing the server configuration diagnostics in Passpartout the VPN is not using my local DNS on the pihole (image attached). Instead, it appears to be using Google's public DNS (8.8.8.8) and thus I am being served ads.

How can I set up the Deco X60 to take advantage of the VPN server functionaity but still route all VPN traffic to the DNS server on my local network?

  @Rickety_Jim

Following up on my own post because I've found three threads that suggest what I should do

https://www.reddit.com/r/pihole/comments/180kal1/use_pihole_as_dns_over_openvpn/

https://forums.openvpn.net/viewtopic.php?t=32549

https://forums.openvpn.net/viewtopic.php?t=33383

However, no approach works. Looking at the logs in the VPN client on my phone I still see the 8.8.8.8 DNS being added even though I do not want it.
