Step by step set up as extender or AP?
Step by step set up as extender or AP?
I hope someone cn help.
Objective: I want to set this router out in a travel trailer approx 60 feet from the main router connected to the internet in the house.
I have wireless cameras outside that I want to be able to connect as they are to far away from the house router.
I think, maybe, the WR640N should be bridged to the Centurylink CL1100Z House modem not sure
I do not want the WR640N connected to an ethernet cable out in the travel trailer. I did have an almond securifi that died and trying to use this router as a replacement.
The main thin is after setting up, how to connect? I hope someone has specific instructions for me.. I thought I had it setup as a extender, didn't seem to connect, light stayed red. Then I tried AP but nothing ether... Thanks

Good news - If you messed something up with WR940N you can reset to its factory defaults and start from scratch.
Press its reset button for 10 seconds to reset the router when its powered on.
Here you can find your ZyXEL modem wireless SSID. Once SSID found - proceed according to the video I posted:

@terziyski Yes I know how to do that. I have 4 SSID's enabled. Why do I have to have the centurylink name? Can't I use just one of my SSID's that I have already,(which I did initially but the cameras now don't work) my SSID's show up on the survey scan. I used to build PC's back in the late 70's old 8088's and up until PC's became proprietary and I worked for HP, but never had interest in networking.
Do I enable WDS? Under wireless name do I just make one up for the router or do I have to use what is in my network on the main router? I read I have to connec tto PC and router but another says no internet or is that just Wifi?

WR940N router has two ways of extending a wireless network:
1. Using Operation mode - range extender
2. Using the WDS feature
Both methods work on the same principle:
I would suggest to use the first one as more stable.
You have to know the ZyXEL SSID/password so you can point it out after surveying and WR940N to know which SSID to extend wirelessly.
You can even customize your SSID if you want to:
If the IP cameras don't work you should probably reset and re-configure them according to your ZyXEL SSID.
The video guide I posted is pretty explanatory when configuring WR940N in range extender mode.

@terziyski https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNh1r2_nKI8 this is what I went by but then again his tp is different and the router is still not turning blue light. I managed to connect the two routers, 2nd on Lan from main router and lan connected to a laptop. Have internet connection on laptop. Set IP on 2nd to 192.168.0.2. On the llaptop I can enter 192.168.0.1 and get zyxtel router and 192.168.0.2 I get the TP link. Havent unplugged the cables, but the TP modem lighti is still orange. Now all of a sudden cannot access the web ui of the second router...This is horse pucky.
