Same pattern. Every hour (or so), fan ramps to 100% for 2-5 minutes. Only on the bottom 10GbE port of course.

Hi, is this also happening when using SFP+ port? With fiber, not the copper transceiver (so way lower heat).

  @Renive Not sure, as I don't have a way to test only using the SFP+ port.

Okay so I bought 2 pack of BE85 and if you slot transceiver into SFP+ port, the fans are going full blast 100% of the time (newest firmware, 1.0.11 EU). This is just shocking. Even when that port is not in use (using ethernet ports but leaving transceiver in) the unit still blasts noise, which I can hear from 30 meters and even if I'm a thick floor above it. Removing transceiver from SFP port fixes the issue, but that's not ideal, I'm running fiber in my house and SFP was the reason I went with this product. It is really janky to run fiber - copper converter between wall and this mesh system just to not being blasted with fan on full noise. I would understand if I put SFP+ Copper transceiver in, they generate a lot of heat, but I'm putting fiber there, which is more energy efficient and way lower heat (fiber SFP transceiver uses less than 1W, copper transceivers can use almost 4W). Using SFP fiber transceiver, the unit was cooler than using 10GB ethernet port, yet it goes full rampage on noise. Can we get at least confirmation that the devs are aware of issue and fix is coming? If not, I'm thinking about returning, the fiber - copper converters are not cheap, and are a janky solution.

  @Renive

The devs are definitely aware of the issue with the fans and the lower 10GbE port, and the newest firmware does seem to substantially improve the fan activity. My latest conversation with that team implies that the heat buildup from the SoC is normal and eventually needs to be 'cleared out' by running the fan for a bit, every once in a while, to get the SoC back to optimal temps. Even if there is not much network traffic heating up the SoC.

I'm not using the SFP+ port. But I would recommend opening a ticket ASAP to get more visibility to the issue.
