Client mode - no internet through DECO main router (tried again and again. frustrating....)
Hi,
you are my last resort....
I spent hours trying to setup the router into client mode.
Providing remote ethernet to a computer without wifi and usb.
But it doesnt work.
I have the GUI in chinese, so it makes things harder.
But still I think I tried everything.
Maybe I need to configure something on the Deco ?
Thanks

I found this for you:
https://service.tp-link.com.cn/detail_article_1115.html
Just to confirm, what's the model of the Deco? Is it also a Chinese version?
If still failed, you may try to contact the technical support that is responsible for this kind of product in China. Contact info is as follows:

What country are you in and what is the country code is marked on the router? That may be part of the issue.
Since you are having an issue with the GUI in a different language, what you may want to do is is to use the emulator to compare pages.
You get to it from the TP Link support pages for that model of router.

Hi !
Thanks KevinZ and ArcherC8 !
I ran many tests with the help of your links.
What I found out eventually is that the Encryption of the main router (its a DecoM9, bought and located in Israel) - is the cause of the problem.
What is working now is the following :
1. I created a Guest network on the main router.
2. Set it to be with no encryption
3. Then ran the default configuration for the Tp-Link TL-WR802N, ver 1.2
4. The client computer connected through the WR802N now have access to the network.
But this is ofcourse not something I can have open. I must add a decryption option.
The DECO has two encryption options :
WPA2-PSK [AES]
WPA2-PSK[AES] + WPA-PSK[TKIP]
If I select any of them, then the TP-LInk WR802N will not connect to the main router.
Any idea for a way around it ?
By the way, another annoying issue - the TL-WR802N only identify the main router on 2.4Ghz and not 5GHz
Thanks !

The WR802N is a signal band router, it only supports 2.4G wireless connection, it doesn't support 5G. Check the specifications below:
https://www.tp-link.com.cn/product_324.html#productSpe
Have you tried to configure the WR802N to a range extender or repeater mode, will that connect to the Deco network with encryption? If that also doesn't work, I will have no other suggestions but advise you to contact the tech support for the WR802N as I mentioned earlier, they may know something that we don't.
