AX10/AX1500 VR game streaming stuttering
Hi there, I am a representative of the Virtual Desktop community (community of around 20k on Discord with up to 5000 active users a day) and I need to bring an issue to TP Links attention.
We are often asked which routers our users should get and up until now for those on a budget we have recommended TP Link and the best model we have been advising for Oculus Quest 2 compatibility is the Archer AX10 or AX1500 since the specs match the Quest 2's networking hardware perfectly.
Quite a few users with this TP Link router have been complaining about terrible visual stuttering which is making their VR experience unplayable.
In trying to troubleshoot I purchased one of the routers myself and received a Hardware Version 1.0 router, which I have to say for me is performing brilliantly so far.
It has now become apparent that those suffering issues all have the v1.2 revision of the hardware.
We support our users so have of course advised latest firmware updates and correct WiFi settings but for these people (including a fellow admin who purchased an AX1500 yesterday in the US) the issues persist and all of them will likely be returning the hardware if it cannot be fixed.
Because my v1.0 on is working fine I need to come here and find out what is going on and if something can be fixed asap with a firmware update?
I want to continue to recommend TP Link routers to our members (ever increasing due to Quest 2 popularity) but will have to hold back until this issue is resolved.
We have a few people I can ask to assist with testing if required so please can a representative of TP Link contact me if necessary to get the ball rolling.
Thanks, Liam (oursoul)

Hi Liam
I don't have another means of contacting you so i'm messaging you here.
I have had all the exact problems with my tplink archer ax10 ax1500 as people have been explaining.
I have been tinkering with the router for almost a month and finally think its running as good as what a person would expect.
I have backed up my settings file and would like to upload it for you to check if its not just a anomally on my side and see if it does in fact help others with the problems.
Im running it standalone to the pc with only my headset on 5ghz and the pc on ethernet.
My internet im getting for pc vr via my main router on the wifi adapter. Had to set the metric values to ensure the computer runs internet from the wifi.
I have made the backup file with easy passwords for both the wifi 5ghz and for the gui on the router.
Im running my virtual desktop on 90hz the quality set to high and 56mbps bit rate. My half life alyx looks good and is very smooth on ultra fidelity.
Im running a msi p75 creator prestige laptop with a rtx 2070 i7 10th gen and 32gb ram.
Please let me know to whom i can send the ssettings file for the router.
I really hope it can help.
Funny part is that virtual desktop says the connection is 400mbps but it really smooth for me.

Oky cool.
ill quickly upload.
Your password for the firmware interface will be A123456789.
The wifi pass is 123456789. Its called vr 5ghz.
Dont change any settings till youve tried it first. If i change a single thing it doesnt work. Dont know why exactly.
Be sure to only have the router plugged into the ethernet with nothing else connected. Ive got my laptop connected to LAN 4.
Also be sure that the connection runs on ip Address 192.168.0.1. If it differs you need to change the ipv4 in the adapter options.
You can run without any internet connection though ive got my internet running from the wifi adapter. But you will have to prioritse the connection else you will not have internet as win prioritises eth as first. I did this by setting my wifi metric to 1. And my eth metric to 50. That seems to work for me.
You will not have any internet in the headset itself but when running pcvr you only need internet on the pc itself.
So when not using it for pcvr. Just set it back to your normal wifi connection.
I hope you manage. Please let me know once youve tested it. Im not sure if the settings will work for someone else. But with me its running smooth with very good graphics.
Also the connection shows only 400mbps bitrate. Dont worry it works better then when it says 1200mbps. I dont understand it myself but yeah.
And also the wifi connection (vr 5ghz) to the quest 2 takes a long time to show up in the wifi connection box. So just be patient. It takes a while. But once its connected its stable.

@oursoul Hello, I just want to add myself to the pile, I have an AX50 with the latest firmware (UK) and I get the exact same stuttering issues! Found myself trying everything and not getting anywhere, went back to an old ASUS AC router and it workes fine, but on this AX router it stutters every 10-15 seconds when playing wireless VR. Going to have to sell this one and buy an ASUS again.
