@Carl I hope we have made it a bit easier to collect the data needed for you to forward on to us.

Thank you again for having brought us this update from the R&D department. We hope you can bring all this info to them and reply again when you have another update to share.

Thanks a million 🙏

I ended up returning my 3 AX1500 routers and going back to a WiFi5 solution, works so much better and no longer getting sick in VR.

Just received an update from 1.0.8 to 1.1.2 on v1.0 hardware, halved my AC speeds, was getting 450mbps at 2m from the router, now I am getting 200. Why are you making this router even worse than it is?

@christiano88 yeah this router is an absolute disaster. Not seeing much progress being made, and the performance seems to be getting worse with every update. Won't ever buy another TP Link router after this.

Returned my second tp-link router. Finally got an ASUS RT-AX3000, half worried that it still wouldn't work well and I'd discover the router wasn't the issue after all.

It works like a dream. Now I'm testing the VR gaming limits of my GPU via Virtual Desktop without worrying about networking issues. SO worth the extra money.

Still grateful for the attention this thread has received, but anyone looking for a quick solution should return their router and get something from ASUS.

@bfair31 Glad to hear it! I'm sticking with the tp-link for now, as I have a good-enough connection with the workaround of using only AC mode on a private 5ghz band. I'm hopeful that EVENTUALLY they figure it out. Hopefully. Perhaps I'll buy a new router if it still isn't fixed by december 2021 :P

@bfair31

That's exactly my story as well.

Returned two TP-Link ax routers and got the Asus rt-ax86u and it works flawlessly. Really a night and day difference.

Update: remember that I said that I updated my router from 1.0.8 to 1.1.2 on v.1 hw, and my DL speed halved almost, I went on the tplink website and got an older firmware (1.1.0) and the issue was fixed 90%. I get only 10-15% less now than original firmware. Much better, I will stick to this until a BETTER update comes out, not a worse one. Good thing downgrading is easy...and I don't use a VR headset yet (interested in this in the future, that's why I am on this thread), else this router would be put on ebay for pennies. Hope until I get my VR headset, they release a firmware that doesn't affect DL speeds AND fixes VR stuttery mess.

@Carl  Having the same issue everyone has already pointed out.

VR Goggle model: OCULUS QUEST 2

VR Goggle Firmware Version: LATEST TO DATE: 23.0.0.87.517.260511599

Router model and hardware version: ARCHER AX50 V1.0 US

Router Firmware version: 1.0.9 Build 20200708 rel.55037(5553)

Games you have experienced the issue on: EVERY STEAM VR GAME PLAYED ( HALF-LIFE ALYX / PHASMOPHOBIA / THE EXORCIST LEGION VR)

Games you have not experience the issue on: NONE

What happens exactly: GAME STUTTERING/FREEZING EVERY NOW AND THEN WHEN YOU MOVE. MORE NOTICEABLE WHEN YOU DO A QUICK MOVE. MAKES YOU HAVE VR SICKNESS

duration it happens: ALL GAME SESSION, AS SOON AS ENTERING GAME ENVIRONMENT

Frequency it happens: ALL THE TIME

and anything else you can think of: AS PEOPLE DESCRIBED EARLIER IN THIS THREAD, WHEN SETTING "MIXED MODE AC" FIX (sort of) THE PROBLEM, BUT I PAID FOR AN AX ROUTER, THE PROBLEM ARE IN AX COMPATIBILITY WITH OCULUS QUEST 2. PC IS CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO ROUTER (LAN PORT 1) AND VR HEADSET IS CONNECTED WIRELESSLY BY 5G NETWORK USING VIRTUAL DESKTOP.

Worth mentioning that usually every 30 seconds I can detect a spike in latency measure between LAN 1 Port (PC) and router. The maximum spike detected was 15ms and the interval between one and another is variable but it usually vary between 1 / 2 /3 ms when it happens. Maybe the physical connection has something to do with this problem?

VIRTUAL DESKTOP 1.18.7 SETTINGS (MIXED AX ENABLED MINIMUM STUTTERING):

Codec: H.264

VR Graphics Quality: MEDIUM

Sliced Encoding

VR Bitrate: 70

Refresh Rate: 80

VIRTUAL DESKTOP 1.18.7 SETTINGS (MIXED AC - WORKING WITH VERY LIMITED STUTTERING):

Codec: H.264

VR Graphics Quality: MEDIUM

Sliced Encoding

VR Bitrate: 80

Refresh Rate: 90

GAME RIG SPECS:

RYZEN 5800X / ASUS TUF X570 / 32GB DDR4 3000 / GEFORCE RTX 3070 / REALTEK GAMING GbE FAMILY CONTROLLER (ONBOARD)
