@oursoul So I tried out a different router, this time a Xiaomi R3600.  AX worked like a dream - no stuttering, no nothing, even when set at 150MB.  Latency was lower (about 5-10 ms, roughly speaking, as viewed from the performance overlay).

I still prefer settings on the AX50, but this level of performance is unacceptable.

@gren77

All that support can say is its being investigated further.  Once we know anything we will let you know.

@Carl

I have an AX50. This problem is also occuring to me. Quest 2, I've tried using only 5GHZ, AX only, 160 channel width, 56 DFS channel, no other devices on the wifi. Honestly, it's so sad I just go from 8 or 9 ms latency and every minute I get maybe 4 or 5 massive spikes up to sometimes 20 or 30ms.

Is there some sort of contact info that you can provide that lets us know when you've figured out a fix to this?

@oursoul THANK YOU for this thread!  I've been so frustrated, thinking I must be missing something.  Returning my AX1500.

Edit: just in case tp-link wants confirmation:

Firmware Version:

1.1.1 Build 20201116 Rel. 57075(5553)

Hardware Version:

Archer AX1500 v1.20

@Carl

Can confirm that I am also having a lot of stutters on the AX50 when in ax mode with Virtual Desktop on the Quest 2.

The router performs perfect in AC mode thou, but this means I cannot utilize Wifi 6 and get the higher 1200mbps.

I've tried a lot of different configurations, but running in ac-only is the only fix so far, and definitely not optimal.

@Gmadu1993 AND ALL

These people do not decide anything. This tech support does not work with developers. The developers work in mainland China. Oculus Quest 2 is not available for these people to check. Facebook is banned in China, which means that VR helmets and all other things from Facebook are not sold.

@Antonix I recommend doing as I do. Sell this router on Ebay and buy any other from the USA or Taiwan or the EU or even Russia.

@Antonix

Actually we do have a QA Team in the US that can test this and that is who we are working with.  We just do not have an update, and with Christmas and New Year comming up I do not expect an answer before that.

@Carl your attentiveness to this thread is encouraging.  I'm returning my AX1500 today and was debating whether I'd pick up another tp-link that looks like a good option.  It's nice to see "official" interaction on the forum even if stuff like this is predictably slow-moving.  I'll probably go with another tp-link.  yes
