Router has to be restarted several times a day
My model is not listed above so I just chose the AP300 because I had to select something in order to preceed.
A few years ago I bought a TP-Link TL-WDR3500 router & had difficulties & stopped using it. A couple months ago I tried it again.
I’m using a SpeedStream 5100b DSL modem. Both it and the TP-Link router were set to IP address 192.168.0.1 by default. I changed the router’s IP address to 192.168.1.1, just like on previous routers, and all was good & working. For awhile.
About once a day it would lose internet connection. For some reason the router’s IP address would change back to the default 192.168.0.1 all by itself. I’d change it to 192.168.1.1 again which usually took several tries because the setting would not stick. When done the router would work for another day or so. I got tired of doing this went to back to using my old D-Link router.
Yesterday thought I’d try the TP-Link again.
Now it behaves differently. It works for an hour or so & then stops. Sometimes I cannot access the router’s settings using either of the above IP addresses & the browser says it has “trouble finding that site”. I power the router off & on and it starts working. What’s different is that yesterday & today the IP address stays at 192.168.1.1. IOW it doesn’t change back to the default like it did a few months ago.
If I go into the Windows 7 Network & Sharing Center & run the “Troubleshoot problems” it sometime says “The DNS Server isn’t responding” and other times it says “Local Area Connection doesn’t have a valid IP configuration”.
In either case powering the router off & on gets it working again for another hour or so. I would think if some setting was wrong that it would not connect to begin with.
It could just be a router that’s defective out of the box.
Any ideas or suggestions what is happening?

I left the PC connected to the modem overnight to avoid any problems in case another family member wanted to use the PC.
This morning I put the router back into the circuit & got the yellow network warning symbol.
Went to access the router & its LAN IP address had changed back to the default 192.168.0.1. This hasn’t happened for a couple days. The router’s WAN subnet mask also changed to 255.255.0.0. When working its always been 255.255.255.0. Problem is I can’t find a way to change it to 255.255.255.0.
I can’t change the LAN IP address or subnet mask because I get the 5008 error message.
How do I change the WAN subnet mask to 255.255.255.0?
