Model: Archer AX6000
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.0.6

URL: tp-link, Basic tab > Speed test: Mostly it hovers around 2-3 ocassionally 4 kbps. I don't understand why or what it should be?

My Spectrum account, via their modem, internet speed reads 437 Mbps up.

I have the AX6000 connected via Ethernet cable from the fastest Spectrum modem.

Internet speed is about 425 Mbps.

@Kerrith

I would start by swapping out the Ethernet cable, any other cable then the one being used. Factory resetting the router and also checking the firmware to make sure that is up to date.

@Kerrith Thanks Tony, I've tried your suggestions. Strange because Spectrum's speed test consistently shows 425Mbps.

@Kerrith

Not too clear to me, but I assume you meant if you connect the PC directly to Spectrum's modem you get over 400Mbps?

One more test to do, go here, https://www.spectrum.com/internet/speedtest-only, and run the Speed test. What does it read?

I'm sort of thinking the modem is the problem. You just can't plug in a router without first powering down the modem, otherwise it could be looking for the  last device and you do get poor connections that way? Proper way is power down both, bring up modem, and once fully up, bring up the router.

Thanks@IrvSp

I'll try the connecting-starting process again.

I have the Ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN of the router. And another Ethernet cable from the router to the PC.  If I didn'tsee the speed results on the tp app I wouldn't think anything might be wrong.

@ArcherC8

You made me look smiley

The picture DOES show KBps.

Now I realize what happened.

His picture is the usage on the router, not the actual 'speed test' if it is like my A20:

Matter of fact, my manual states to test the Internet Speed click on the Speed Test at the top. That would point you to the Speed Test at the bottom. If it is the first time you did that, the test would begin, or you could use the Test Again button.

What the OP is seeing is the data transfer at the point of time the page is open. By the way, that is always displayed as KBps, and not Mbps it seems. Need to multiply by 8 to get 'bps' from 'Bps'. So my down is 241Kbps, not fast, but I'm doing anything.

I just loaded CNN.COM and looked at that data, over 400KBps, and I then went to the Video tab and played one, around 2 times as much down,

My A20 manual doesn't explain that 'area' either other than to select Speed Test, which doesn't even change my page I've pasted in above. Sort of 'blinks', one would thik it would scroll up if it were a link?

Anyway, seem the OP has confused the 'momentary' data speed (that updates frequently) with true data speed.

@Tony

I reinstalled the modem and router and the speed did improve a bit, it varies from 2-3 to 57 KB/s.

As mentioned, surfing speed has improved with the AX6000.

Thanks all for your support.
