Effects of wall mounting an AC4000 or AX6000
I need to install a new WIFI router on a wall, close to my ONT. I'm not certain how an AC4000 or AX6000 will perform as the antennae seem designed for desktop placement of the router. Any one have practical experience in this regard with either of these units?

Theoretically yes there is a difference, mainly due to the antenna configuration and the gain of the signal, but in practical application no no sigificant difference. We would however recommend that the router is facing inward of the house rather than faceing the exterior wall.

@Carl Thank you. I'll leave this as an open thread and see if anyone has some practical experience, and specifically how they set the antennae on the AX6000. Seem like if you positioned as suggested in the manual the orientation of the radios would be up down as opposed to horizontal.... Leaving retracted is also less than ideal.
The wall is perpendicular to the rest of the house so not great :( But it's where the ONT is located and therefore I'm restricted.
It's really interesting that all the high-end routers from most manufacturers tend now to be designed for table-top deployment.

What will the impact me of ceiling mounting? Or will it be the same as on a table?
So antenna's pointing down when unfolded.

I also interested in the best place to put the AX6000 router, I usually hang wireless router on the wall around 20-25" from 2nd floor ceiling, with good results/coverage, but not certain if is the best position for the AX6000 or I need to put a higher shelf for it.
This router is designed for wall placement (as include holes at the bottom for wall hang)?
