OpenWRT on Deco M9 Plus
Hey All,
Just found a devwiki page that says OpenWRT is supported on the Deco M9 plus... Has anyone tried this? Or should I be the guinea pig?
https://wikidevi.com/wiki/TP-LINK_Deco_M5
Let me know!
Regards,
Matt

Just a few things to keep in mind if you attempt this.
1. TP-Link does not support devices running 3rd party firmware.
2. As this is a alteration of the product and its code your warranty is voided.
3. As the Deco products currently do not have a GUI there is not a real easy way to install a 3rd party firmware.
Ultimately they are your products and you can attempt this if you like but I just wanted to make sure you understood the risks before you do.
Best Regards

As long as I can console into the Deco unit, I shouldn’t need a GUI.
At this point, I’d almost prefer bricking one of my Decos if it means I can get some power user features by figuring out the process.
If theres any way we can put in a feature request for a real Advanced Mode, I’d really be a lot happier with them.
still wishing I’d gone with an Ubiquiti setup at this point.

@matmatician The link you provided isn't working. I've looked around and haven't been able to find it. Is there any OpenWRT support for this unit?

@matmatician this is great! The Deco line for TP-Link is a flawed design that they refuse to fix. Not only is there very little control over networking like channel selection (auto on these devies is horrible) you also can do any DHCP reservations manually. You need to do a work around just to setup a device with an IP you desire.
A DDWRT or OpenWRT solution would be a welcome sign to improve the bugs these devices have.
