Model: Tapo C500
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

My device is a C500

my tapo camera is placed in a difficult to access location. I had to put up scaffolding to install it. I anticipated it'll eventually need a reset for various reasons so I had a switch installed to cut off the power and reset it. I thought it was the same as the bulbs I have in the house. Please correct me if I'm wrong but it isn't working. Meaning, I would turn the power to the camera off and then on again hoping it would reset it but it's not. i changes my wifi password and now the camera cant connect. is there a way to reset it without physically accessing the device?

Hi,
1. Power off/on the camera will reboot it but won't reset it.

2. In your usage scenario, you can try the following steps.
    1) Change your Wi-Fi password and Wi-Fi name back to the original one.
    2) Reboot the camera and check if it will reconnect to the Wi-Fi network. If not, it's required to hold the reset button for 10 seconds on the camera to factory reset it.
    3) If yes, go to the Tapo app and wait for the camera to display the online status. Remove the camera from the Tapo app to reset it.
    4) If the camera has a flashing green and red light, change your router's Wi-Fi settings and reconfigure the camera.

Best Regards
