Hey, I installed a Tapo L530E Smart bulb for the purpose of having it automatically turn off a couple minutes after it is turned on.

I have it set up and can control it through Tapo app and with Alexa, and it auto turns off after X minutes if it is turned on using either of those methods.

But when I turn it on via the wall switch, it refuses to automatically turn off - as if the 'turns on' trigger does not apply to physically switching it on at the wall.

Is there any way to do this, or I am doing something wrong? It's a bit of a deal-breaker for me tbh.

I believe your smart settings are all done through Tapo or Alexa automation. The automation is a cloud feature, when the smart bulb is turned on from the power switch, the smart bulb just starts booting up, it is not online and not connected to the internet, this state change can't be reported to the cloud to trigger the automation.
