@GumperP Nice one, hope it works, I'm on with a "live" agent not trying to get some firmware update pushed on mine to rectify the issue

@GumperP Hi again, update for you with my similar issue. Spoke to a representative on the chat function. He went through many questions and I sent many images from the app. In the end, this is the result, "Based on the steps we have did we have confirmed that this device is now defective. Please do expect an email from us within the day which will contains the instructions for the warranty replacement process for it." I'm awaiting the replacement team's email. It's a shame. The camera is two months old and already defunct.

@NMM1 Exactly the same symptoms here on one of my 2 devices - following the chat and email support route now to see what they say

@ChrisBorrowdale Good luck. Persist with them. I was sent a 'how to make battery last longer' FAQ link, which is irrelevant to our issue. Nothing had changed for me with sensitivity or alerts or whatever else between installing it last Nov and losing power after the firmware update. You'll need to provide screenshots of the device info page, wake-up times, and, if yours is also defunct, the S/N number on the physical camera. And it's also on the camera's box. Hope you have similar luck. I'll update again if/when the replacement team contact me with further instructions.

  @NMM1 ah sorry to hear.

I've updated firmware and put it back up to see if it makes a difference.

Mine is outside of the Amazon return window and as I'm in Ireland, id have to return it to the UK.  Meaning shipping would cost me more than the camera cost....so replacing mine isn't something I'll be doing if the troubleshooting fails.

We shall see though.  It is a shame as when it worked it was so good.

An update.

The new firmware does not seem to have helped.  The battery is at 33 percent after 2 days.

Their last response suspected a hardware anomaly and that perhaps the charger port was not closed correctly.  I can assure you it was closed firmly, as it functioned without issue for nearly 2 months.

I do not think this is something they can fix and if the cost to mail it back is similar to the units original cost, I shall need to try other camera units I guess, which is a shame as when this one worked it was great.

Good luck to everyone with their own issues.  If I hear anything else back I will update.

@GumperP Ah, that sucks. Have you tried using the online chat function and sending screenshots of battery and wake-up events and whatever else they want? Or I assume you've already done all that via email. It's a shame. Unfortunately, from this brief forum, the TC82 seems to have a useless battery and after 2 or so months, it fails. I've had an email from the replacement team. I'm getting a new TC82 mailed out as my warranty expires Jan 2026. My friend who recommended Tapo has two, and both are wired cameras. They seem to last longer, at least you won't have the battery issue. Might be worth switching to a wired camera, but that also has hassle with drilling holes in your wall for wires, etc.

@NMM1 I guess id still be under warranty.

So if they want to send a new one out, at no cost to me I would accept it and see how I get on.

If I have to pay shipping though well, I would need to see the cost.

@GumperP If you're within warranty, the original seller is responsible for the cost of posting it from Ireland to the UK. Tapo cover the postage for the new camera.

Sale of Goods Act, look at that. This forum doesn't permit us to paste links to websites.

Also, the company Which is useful. If you google Which, consumer rights, advice, faulty product - that should get you to the website whereby you can input data to see your entitlements

 One last reply.

Tapo has agreed to replace the camera, until they learned I was in the Republic of Ireland, they then withdrew the offer.

I then contacted Amazon support directly and even though it was 3 months old, they provided a full refund.

I have moved onto a different brand now.

Good luck everyone.
