Model: Tapo C225
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.0.11 Build 240826 Rel.62730n

A few days ago, I received two cameras from Amazon: the C225 and the C520WS. After a couple of days, I tested the two-way communication mode on the C225 and discovered that I couldn’t be heard (at maximum volume, I could only hear fragmented sounds, and even then, only by placing my ear almost directly against the speaker). In the alarm settings, when playing different sounds, they were also extremely quiet.

At the lowest volume setting, the sound is clear but very quiet. However, when set to maximum, it becomes only slightly louder but distorted (like over-amplification or something resembling a torn speaker).

I performed the same tests on the C520WS, and the volume was perfect on that device.

I also tried resetting the C225, but it didn’t help. Even during the first sound test after the reset, the output was still quiet and distorted.

Unfortunately, I didn’t think to test the speaker before updating the firmware, which the camera suggested automatically. Could you please advise if there’s a chance this is a firmware issue, or is it a physical defect, and I should request an exchange through Amazon?

Hi,
You can check if the tips below are helpful.
    1. Make sure that there are no obstructions covering the microphone and speaker openings on the camera.
    2. Ensure the camera is positioned to allow clear and unobstructed sound reception. Avoid placing it in enclosed spaces or near surfaces that may reflect sound.
    3. Test the audio with your mobile device positioned away from the camera, preferably in a different room. The proximity between the phone and camera during a voice call can cause audio feedback.

If the problem remains, please send us a video showing the reported issue and send me(@Solla-topee) the camera's MAC address via a private message.

Best Regards
