Model: Tapo RV20 Mop Plus
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.3

Hi,

I have an RV20 Mop Plus that has mapped out my house.

No carpeted areas were deteced by the device and applied to the map.

At no point does it detect and switch into heavier suction mode when in the carpeted areas even though the sensitivity settings are dialed up to max.

When in the Map Editor there is no option to add carpted areas as outlined in the guides and sent to me by support.

Is this a device issue or capability issue out of alignemet with the production descriptions?

The carpet area will not be recognized and marked on the map automatically. This feature is not supported.

Regarding the carpet cleaning issue, what type of carpet do you have? Please share a picture here.

Try to add a zone to the carpet area on the map manually, then perform zone cleaning. Monitor whether the suction power of the vacuum will be enhanced. What is Custom Cleaning of the robot vacuum?

Hi,

Thanks for you reply.

TP-Link support have come back to me and corrected their stance on the Carpet allocations per room in the map.

Apparently this will be available through the new Max range models coming out soon.

TP-Link support have now declared my unit faulty after requesting i do various tests to get it to detect and trigger carpet detection.

This involved stuffing paper towels into the main brush cavity to see if it would trigger or simulate carpet detection and increase vacuum power which it didn't.

Note: I have short pile carpets and medium pile rugs

Now in the early stages of the replacement process.

Regards,

Steve

The new Max series does support adding carpet area on the map manually. But it is not supported on other series so far.
