I bought a Tapo P110M Smart Plug to reboot my WiFi router once a week in the morning.

 

I have setup a Schedule using the Tapo App on iPhone (Version 3.5.502).

 

The Schedule should turn off the router at 03:00AM and then back on again at 03:01AM.

 

However, the turn on part of the Schedule does not trigger and the plug and router remain off.

 

I have tested the Tapo smart plug in a different socket without the router plugged in to the Tapo P110M so the router is not rebooted and the Schedule performs as expected, it turns the device off and then back on 1 minute later.

 

I believed that the Schedule was stored on the Tapo device and would trigger regardless of it's connection to the internet once it had been setup?

Yes, the schedule feature, not an automation. I feel I made that pretty clear. Anyway, after some trial and error testing I figured out that leaving just 1 minute between scheduled On / Off events simply doesn't work for some reason. There needs to be atleast 2 minutes between scheduling a device to turn off and then back on again i.e. turn off at 03:00AM and then back on again at 03:02AM.

Do you use the schedule feature of the smart plug itself, or create automation instead? Automation is a cloud feature, it won't operate if the smart device loses internet connection.

I've shared your case with our support team. They tried replicating the issue using one Tapo P115 and a P110M, but could not reproduce it. When creating two schedules to turn off and turn on the plug (control the router that the smart plugs are connected to) with a 1-minute difference, the second ON schedule is executed correctly.

 

Your case seems unique. If you're willing, I can forward your case to the engineering for further investigation to see if we can determine the cause.
