Model: Tapo C200
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.3.7 Build 230823

Just bought two cameras - set them up as per instructions - but they can only be viewed while in the house (obviously not ideal) - both show on app as "can only be controlled locally" - is this the reason I am unable to view outside my network?  I have tried resetting router and modem - resetting the cameras - still not connecting.  I am currently trying to figure out how to login to router (I have no idea)

Wifi strength shows strong

IP 10.202.167.121

@sshaw OK - all good now

Figured out how to log into router - changed DNS

reset both cameras (including one stuck in update) - now both seem to be working!

Hi,
If you have a problem to control the camera remotely, please refer to the instructions below.
Cannot use the Tapo/Kasa app to control my smart devices

Usually, you can't control the camera remotely when it does not connect to the internet or cloud server. Please help confirm the following information for further analysis.
1. The model number of your router and your ISP. Do you have internet when connecting to the router's Wi-Fi?

2. The LED status on the camera.

3. You can contact your router support to log in to the router's management page and check if the router has special settings, such as MAC Filtering, Access Control, Firewall rules, etc., for the camera. If so, remove the settings for a try.

4. You can also enable a hotspot Wi-Fi on your phone, reset the camera, reconfigure it with a different phone, connect it to the hotspot Wi-Fi, and check if you can control it remotely.

Best Regards

I am still trying to get ahold of someone who can help me with my router

But - today - when I checked the cameras - one looked like it may work - wasn't giving the "locally" message anymore (note - this was only on one) - but still could not connect properly - but did show temporarily when off of wifi.  Then it required a firmware update (I had cxhecked previously) - tried to run the firmware update - and its been running for several hours now - not completing .......

Still says "Updating ..... " at bottom of screen

Firmware says -

1.3.11 Build 231115 Release 85532n

Whats new - Modifications and Bug Fixes: Optimized stability of the Wi-fi connection

Why os this not completing?  Should it take this long?  Why is only one receiving this?

Hi,
Your Tapo C210's firmware is not the latest. When it connects to the internet/cloud server, you see the firmware update notice. It may be the camera disconnects from the cloud server thus you can't update the firmware successfully.

It's suggested to try the following steps:
  1. Enable a hotspot Wi-Fi on your phone.
  2. Reset the camera.
  3. Reconfigure it with a different phone, and connect it to the hotspot Wi-Fi.
  4. Check if you can control it remotely. If so, update the firmware via the Tapo app.
  5. Try to reset and reconfigure the camera to connect to your home Wi-Fi, and check if it will work fine.

Best Regards
