Download Snapshot over http on my TC70
Hi,
I'd like to be able to download jpg images for my own Android app to process using object recognition. I'm testing the suggested URLs in my Chrome browser on Windows 11 with:
http://<username>:<password>@192.168.1.xxx/snapshot.jpg
I've tried supplying the password as plain and base64 encoded and tried adding the stream name:
http://<username>:<password>@192.168.1.xxx/stream1/snapshot.jpg
I've also tried https but I either get ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED or ERR_UNSAFE_PORT in response.
I assume the TC70 does allow downloading of snapshots?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
The Tapo cameras do not support to download snapshots via URLs.
On the Tapo app>camera's live view page, you can take a picture by tapping the camera icon. When you watch the video recordings on the Tapo app, you can also tap the camera icon when playing the video recordings to take pictures.

Hey @Solla-topee ,
Thanks for coming back so quickly.
So the project I'm involved with needs to be able to process images for object recognition. We're happy to do this at a low frequency, say 1 per second. We will be developing our own Android application for this. Is the only way to do this with an TP_Link camera is via an RTSP stream? I've been battling with the complications of doing it that when I saw ChapGPT suggested using your snapshot facility (I'm rolling my eyes too :-) )
Extracting individual frames from a video feed is proving challenging (I'd prefer to say away from anything too low level involving native code etc).
Many thanks
Andy

Hi,
Most of the Tapo cameras support the RTSP/ONVIF protocol and you can stream it with a third-party app/program that supports the RTSP/ONVIF protocol too, below are the instructions.
How to view Tapo camera on PC/NAS/NVR through RTSP/Onvif Protocol?
However, we do not have the URLs to capture camera snapshots via RTSP and do not know if the third-party app/program supports the snapshot feature, you can contact their support to confirm if needed.
