While I was looking at the start screen of the Tapo app, the smart thermostats just disappeared!

 

What is going on???

I just installed an old version (3.2.808) and there they are!

Fix this ASAP!

 

How can we trust a vendor-locked-in platform, where important devices just

randomly disappear?

  @aroedl  Install an old version on KE100 or Tapo App? And how do I do that? I have no access to the KE100. Thanks for your answer.

You'd have to uninstall your Tapo app and download the version 3.2.808 from APK mirror. If you have a secondary (spare) device (smartphone or tablet), you can install it there. Yes, you need a secondary device, just to control your smart thermostats...

 

It worked on the current version (3.3.513) but suddenly the KE100s disappeared.

 

Even crazier: I can see and control them on my wife's tablet (3.3.513) just fine, but she has the shared devices with limited access.

 

At TP-LINK/Tapo: this is a critical issue! The Tapo app is not a mobile game where you can do random changes without major consequences.

 

I now have three tablets: one with an old version (works), one with the current version (doesn't work) and a third tablet (works with the current version, but limited, because shared devices).

 

That's a really nice smart home ecosystem!

Update: KE100s still gone in the latest beta version 3.100.526. Couldn't even add KE100s, because they don't show up in the "add device" section. It must be a server-side issue!

  @aroedl it is the (current) Tapo app in conjunction with your account that may KE100 to disappear.

Since TP Link made some specific adjustments to my account (Id), a have now fully support for KE100 again and I'm also able to add more KE100 in the actual Tapo app 3.3.513.

I have 3.3.513 with dark-mode two weeks and i have for 3 months instaled one KE100 in tapo tru H100.

I instaled 2 KE100 yesterday and havent any problem with... Now i have 3 thermo heads in one app.

Sooner or later you'll open the app and your KE100 will be gone. Last time it happened to me it was when it was still cold outside. This time it's fortunately warm and I hope that they will fix it until November.
