Model: Tapo C510W
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

I'm considering buying 3 of these cameras to cover front, side and back of my house. My electrician was going to power them from outside light circuits but noticed the 9V DC adaptors, meaning they would need to be plugged in to a mains socket.  I'm now on the hunt for cameras with a built-in 240V supply that would work with plan A, but thought I'd check a few options before moving away from Tap.

I don't want an outside socket as that could just be switched off by the not-very-enterprising thief, so we're thinking about using an internal socket to power the 3 cameras from a single adaptor.  Is that feasible?  Any other ideas?

  @intgom  Can you share your ideal power wire connection? I'm not sure how to connect three cameras from a single adapter, do you have a power adapter with three split power wires?

  @Summer_S Thanks for your response.

I'm not very good with electrical circuits, but my electrician has suggested using one adaptor to power the 3 cameras, I'm guessing by cutting the wires and using some sort of splitter with extension cables.  He had initially hoped to use power from some outside lights, assuming that the cameras would have a built-in 240v adaptor.

  @intgom  I don't think the Tapo C510W has a built-in 240v adaptor, as you can see on its datasheet(https://static.tp-link.com/upload/product-overview/2024/202402/20240201/Tapo%20C510W_Datasheet.pdf), the original power adapter's output is 12.0 V/1.0 A.
If the original power cable is long enough for your usage scenario, why not use the original power adapter directly? The power adapter input is 100-240 V. 50/60 Hz, it can connect to the indoor wall socket or extension socket.
