Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.9

Hi,

Currently, my home heating system (oil burner) is working on a smart timer with a wired thermostat and it is working fine, the Kasa thermostat opened and closed the thermostatic valve as expected and I am quite pleased with the amazing product that I have purchased.

I can see so much potential in this system and would like to check if the following scenario would work before I go ahead and order KE100 and T310/T315 for every room in the house. Following this installation my parents are quite interested in getting the same set-up.

So let's explore the known:

KE100 can not be used as a trigger (no support in the Tapo app), connects to KH100.

T310/T315 can be used as a trigger for turning on a smart plug P100/P110, connects to KH100, connects to KE100 as an external temperature sensor, and works with Tapo app.

Smart plugs P100/P110 have WiFi connectivity and can be assigned to an action ON/OFF.

Theoretically, KE100 together with external temperature sensors set up in every room can be connected to KH100 to control the thermostatic valves on the radiators and can be connected to the KH100 hub. The T310/T315 devices and P100/P110 are compatible with Tapo app, which then can be used to control power to the oil burner and motorised valves on the heating system. Those can be operated by mains plug connectors via P100/P110.

This will achieve true automation that I believe will benefit the users and overcome the only shortfall that I can see so far between Kasa/Tapo and other brands.

To explain further, let's say in the house with 11 radiators, radiator #10 is set to 20 degrees (Kasa app) and the room is at 18 degrees, KE100 will open the valve and the T310/T315 will trigger an action for P100/P110 to switch ON (Tapo app), which will turn on the oil burner to heat a single radiator. This can be expanded to include motorised valves for different loops (upstairs/downstairs), hence achieving the true automation everyone deserves.

My belief is that the above is possible, product specifications do not suggest otherwise and wiring is not an issue for me. I just need some reassurance that this is possible from the connectivity (KH100 hub) and software (Kasa/Tapo apps) side, before I go and purchase all the devices for my house.

Thank you in advance for looking into this.

If I understand correctly, both of these automation rules require using the T310/T315 to detect temperature as a trigger to control the KE100 and Tapo plug, right?

If that's the case, the automation rule can be created as follows.

In Kasa App

When: T310/T315 Temperature Below 18 ℃

Then: KE100 set temperature to xx ℃

In Tapo App

When: T310/T315 Temperature Below 18 ℃

Then: Turn On P100

You understood that correctly, thank you for your reply. I'll get the devices ordered closer to Black Friday, hopefully some discount will be availiable :)
